Diamond Rings For Women
Womens diamond rings continue to be, hands down, among the biggest sellers for jewellers worldwide. Likewise, the traditional diamond solitaire still comes out on top as the number one choice for couples when engagement ring shopping.
However as fashions have evolved, many prospective brides and grooms are now looking for original or unusual engagement rings in order to express their own individual characters. The industry has responded by producing more choice then ever before when it comes to affordable engagement rings, using a whole variety of settings and diamond cuts, or including different gemstones altogether.
Better still, with the advent of the Internet it gives couples the opportunity to go through a whole range of styles in the comfort of their own home and find the lowest price engagement rings without compromising on taste or quality. It means that everyone now is afforded the chance to own their ideal engagement ring and settle for nothing less then perfection.
Owning a diamond ring though is not just for those getting married. One of the biggest trends at the moment is for right hand rings. It has come about because as marriage rates drop while womenīs earnings shot up, jewellers have found a way to provide women with rings that can buy for themselves. This trend is about more than pure decoration though, but about status with the ring becoming a symbol of womenīs self sufficiency and financial independence.
In fact in America, the desire for women to buy their own bling has taken off so rapidly that sales are only lagging slightly behind those to couples. Unlike solitaire rings, right hand rings tend towards the more extravagant or intricate. Alternatively they are also a good excuse for married women, whose left-hands will already be bejewelled with engagement and wedding rings, to still experience the joy of receiving a diamond ring as a present.
No woman understands this desire for beautiful jewellery better than Elizabeth Taylor who in 2002 published her book "My Love Affair with Jewellery". As part of the launch she put 30 of her jewels on displays at Christie´s in New York, the famous auction house. One of these was the emerald and diamond Bulgari ring given to her by husband Richard Burton and which was sold to raise money for AIDīs charity.
